Sunday Service​
In 1 Kings 18:20–39, the prophet Elijah stands alone on Mount Carmel against the prophets of Baal, calling the people to choose whom they will serve: “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him.” When Elijah prays, fire falls from heaven, not to destroy, but to reveal the living God’s presence and power. This divine fire exposes false idols and purifies what is true, showing that God’s purpose is not domination but transformation. In a world that still bows to the idols of power, productivity, and self-interest, this passage calls us to rebuild the altar of our hearts and communities so that God’s renewing fire can dwell within us. The fire of God reveals truth, restores justice, and rekindles compassion, not as a weapon, but as a witness of divine love that transforms us and the world around us.
